Decorative Concrete / Concrete Polishing
A concrete floor no longer has to be the dusty, dull surface it once was. COLONIAL FLOOR AND STONE CARE in Ft. Lauderdale can transform your concrete into as sophisticated a surface as the finest marble, using the most advanced polishing and densifying systems and equipment.
Concrete polishing has finally come of age and is fast becoming the ultimate sophisticated, beautiful, yet practical floor for the home. Recent advances in polishing equipment allows Colonial Floor and Stone Care to grind new or old concrete surfaces to a new level of gloss finish that NEVER need waxes or coatings. This new hard dense surface allows a better use of light due to the surface reflectivity.
A little explanation of the process...
Here is an easy was to understand concrete polishing. It is a lot like sanding a wood floor. Sophisitcated polishing machines are fitted with progressively finer grits of diamond-impregnated discs, like sand paper, to grind surfaces smooth to the desired degree of shine. During the grinding process a penetrating densifier or concrete hardner is applied. When surfaces are clean and dry, they are no more slippery than plain concrete surfaces.
There are a huge number of decorative concrete applications. They include custom chemical staining (acid staining), decorative scoring, dying and many personal touches. Chemical staining and dying creates a one-of-a-kind floor that cannot be duplicated because each concrete floor will accept stains differently. Each floor is made of a different concrete/stone mix, different aggregate, and differing previous use. These color stains and dyes react with the surface and penetrate -- they ARE NOT paints or coatings.
Unfortunately, floors that are wavy, need extensive patching, or are extremely porous may not respond well to polishing. Our experienced sales staff will be able to advise you.
For a totally smooth monolithic concrete floor (one without the typical concrete "character") a concrete overlay can be applied. This concrete overlay will also accept stains and dyes and can be polished to a high shine or left at a matte finish.
COLONIAL FLOOR AND STONE CARE is a Certified Applicator for both the Retroplate and the L&M FGS Permashine Systems. Our densification system consists of environmentally green concrete densifiers. This natural chemical application reacts with the poured concrete making the surface up to 400 times denser (stronger) that can be honed and polished to a glass-like shine that will resist staining for 10+ years!
Benefits of the Retroplate and L&M FGS Permashine system:
* Reduces maintenace costs
* Reduces dust
* Abrasion resistant
* Unlimited Color
* Increases hardness of concrete
* No topical coatings
* Stain resistant
* Meets LEEDS specifications
* NFSI traction certified
* Increased light reflectivity(reduces electricity costs)
